The production of the KamAZ-53501 multi-purpose vehicle began in 2003 and continues to this day. The main purpose of the truck is the transportation of personnel and army cargo. The KamAZ-53501 power plant is located on the front of the frame, above it there is an all-metal, folding, cabover cab, designed for a driver and two passengers with a berth for rest. Most of the military trucks are equipped with an armored cab, with bulletproof glass and a floor reinforced with special sheets. KamAZ-53501 is equipped with two fuel tanks with a volume of 170 and 125 liters, on some modifications one tank with a capacity of 350 liters is installed. Average seasonal fuel consumption (summer-winter) when driving on a paved road is 28,5 - 32,5 liters.
Transmission, brakes and power supply
Today the car is equipped with a modern domestic mechanical ten-speed gearbox KamAZ-154. Unlike other gearboxes, this box has reinforced synchronizers, improved multiplier control and more reliable gear attachment. Like any all-wheel drive vehicle, the KamAZ-53501 is equipped with a transfer case with a lockable center differential, the front-wheel drive in this truck works constantly.
As in most trucks of the Kama Automobile Plant, a single-disk dry diaphragm clutch with a hydraulic drive and a hydraulic pneumatic booster is installed here. The brakes are drum brakes with pneumatic drive and drum diameters of 400 millimeters. In addition to the main braking system, the car is equipped with backup and parking brakes.
The car's electrical systems are powered by two 190 Ah batteries, and a 28-volt generator with a capacity of 2 kW is also installed here.
